Support for the House

Who runs the House?
It was bequeathed to the Anglican Diocese of Bristol by Dr
Elsie Briggs in 1988. Decisions are made by an ecumenical Management
Committee. There is normally a resident warden who lives in the
adjoining cottage. Much of the work in the House and garden is done by
volunteers.
How is the House financed?
The House is dependent for its income on the generosity of its
friends, and contributions of those who come there. There is a small
income from the Elsie Briggs Trust, set up from Elsie’s will.
Decisions on expenditure are made by the Management Committee, in
consultation with the Diocese. Otherwise it depends on donations, often
given through the Friends.
How can I support and help the work of the House?
By becoming a Friend of Elsie Briggs House (reg. charity no. 1064760). The House depends totally on the prayer and financial support of those who know and use it. A lot of practical help is given by volunteers – with the garden, with publicity, fundraising, repairs, welcoming and many other aspects of running the House. If you would like to help in this way, even on an occasional basis, or would like to become a Friend, please contact the House on 0117 9507242. Donating by Direct Debit (gift-aided if possible), is the best of all.
